Obituary of Satya Pal Soin

Born February 28, 1941, in Kalka, Haryana (India) as ‘Satyapal Soin’, he was the second son of the late Dr. Bidhichand Soin and Sri Rajrani Soin. Satya was a very sensitive, kind, and diligent son and brother to nine siblings. During his academic years, he excelled in his studies in pharmacology in his native country, India. Satya graduated from Punjab University in Chandigarh, India and trained as a chemist/pharmacist to later open a local community pharmacy with his brothers in Karol Bagh, India. In addition, Satya worked as a traveling salesman, empowering him to travel throughout India, to sell toiletries and household items for a family-owned manufacturing business. In 1970, Satya took a courageous leap of faith, leaving his childhood family and homeland to pursue his dream of independently owning a community pharmacy in the United States. He opened Medical Center Pharmacy in 1976, serving the community of Lynbrook, LI, NY for twenty four years (1976-2000) as ‘Paul’. Satya valued a strong work ethic, goal-oriented achievement, and caring service to others. Satya, meaning “truth” in Sanskrit, was the true embodiment of his dharma, or duty in life; always striving to uphold his roles and responsibilities as a studious son, a life long providing husband and a loving and caring father and grandfather. Satya’s legacy will live on in his four children and three grandchildren. He is survived by his four adult children, Rachna (Rachel), Sapna (Suzie), Sonia, Sandeep (Sandy), and three grandchildren, Suvali, Kira, and Linden. In addition, he is survived by his three brothers and four sisters. Satya passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 6, 2025, at the age of 83 years. May his gentle and kindred soul rest in eternal peace.
