No other teacher impacted my life as much as Alan Zacker. Without his encouragement and kindness I would have never finished high school. Every teacher needs to study his playbook. I’ll remember him forever.

Mr. Zacker, what can I say. I know if my grammar is not proper in this you will haunt me forever in my sleep. You guidance and crafty ways of getting your students to pay attention in class were stunning and yet kind hearted. I will always look back at you and remember “is this guy nuts?” God speed sir. I am truly great full for you teachings in DAHS. Class of 1992.

From division ave high school. He was an awesome man. Funny and he put up with us! I also had the pleasure of serving him as a customer at the bagel store in east rockaway several times (my family used to own it). He will be missed. May God bless him and watch over his family.

RIP Mr. Alan Zacker -one of my favorite teachers. So many of you enjoyed him as an English teacher. He was special to me as to so so many students. Very sad about his passing. My condolenses to his family and friends and to all who knew him. This picture was taken in June 1975 in front of Levittown Memorial High School. His words to me in my yearbook:"Be true to yourself." Excellent advice.

I never had the privilege of having Mr. Zacker in the classroom during all my years at Levittown Memorial and Levittown Division, however, I got to know him outside the classroom in the context of yearbook advisor and friend to all. He was always supportive of every event the school had and his door was always open to all students (whether he was your classroom teacher or not). He was extremely funny, always had a positive influence, and was an inspiration to many of us during our high school years. I can recall students “hanging out” daily outside the yearbook office during after school hours long into the evening. He was a dedicated teacher who had a profound impact on thousands of students in the Levittown schools. Mr. Z was a teacher that made a difference not only in my life, but many others. Thanks for being a light in my life, Mr. Z. I hope I can leave as big of a mark on my students 40 years from now just line you have. Rest in peace.

I met your Dad for the first time only recently. He was fabulous!!! Feisty, energetic, gregarious….even with some physical limitations, that didn’t seem to stop his spirit and love for life.
Losing two parents within such a short period of time is hard. Try to have some peace of mind knowing they are together once again.
With love and healing prayers

I am a member of the Class of 1989 at Division Avenue High School. The class dedicated our yearbook to him. He had my older siblings as well as myself. He wrote in my yearbook "Another in the line of the famous Tumbys" (my Maiden name was Tumbarello). He was a very funny teacher who made learning fun. My husband also had him as a teacher and has fond memories of him. He will be someone that will never be forgotten.

My sincere sympathy to the Zacker family.
Your father was my teacher for 2 years at Levittown Memorial HS, and then when I was co-editor of the yearbook and he was the advisor ,he became a friend and mentor as well. What a wonderful, warm, witty, and caring man! He will be missed and remembered .
