Linda Dunlea posted a condolence

The Dunlea Family grew up next to the Jordan Family, our backyards butting-up against each other and separated by a chain-linked fence that was easily breached. I remember the neighborhood kids putting on talent shows in the Jordan's yard, lively games of ring-a-levio and street baseball, and late-night dips in our pool by the Jordan boys. It was a nice neighborhood to grow-up in.
We all remember Timothy fondly and appreciated his great sense of humor. We've made a donation in his name to the American Cancer Society. Our condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

Dearest Timmy, I am deeply saddened by your loss. A life taken too soon. I can only take comfort in that you are no longer suffering. I pray for your family and the difficultly and heartbreak your passing will mean to them. I will always remember the good times we shared with fond memories, which will always remain close to my heart. Rest in Peace my friend. Until we meet again. Laura

I'm always proud to tell people I had a great childhood. The Jordan Family, and especially Timmy, were a big part of it. From riding on the back of Dad's scooter, to fishing at the White Cannon, night skating at Grant Park, road trips with Tricia and Eileen in the VW bus to swim Swift's Creek (we made sandwiches!), and using all the neighbors' yards as our own personal playpen, it was a great time and place to be kid.
Tim and I had a couple of private adventures as well. We were hitchhiking buddies, with multiple trips to Montauk and one very memorable (if long) trip to Acadia National Park. It was 1975, at a time when traveling to Maine on your own seemed exotic, like making a solo trip to the moon. We were so proud of ourselves!
Tim and I went our separate ways after high school, as so many Lynbrook-types did. The last time I saw him was the morning of Superbowl Sunday in 1995 during one of my trips back to Long Island. He and a young son (Matthew?) were at Atlantic Deli. The boy's eyes opened wide when I told him I went to Kindergarten with his Uncle Joey! As luck and good fortune would have it, I ran into Tim again later that day in Long Beach. Neither of us had any idea we'd never see one another again. Life, sadly, is like that.
From my family to yours, please accept our sincere condolences on Tim's passing. My sisters and I were very fortunate to have you as our friends and neighbors.
Sincerely,
John
