Obituary of Frances B. Healy
Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
She was born in 1924, had Polio, and shouldn't have survived, let alone ever walked. Nevertheless, she persisted and endured.
She married the love of her life, had a beautiful baby girl, then her first born son died before they left the hospital. Nevertheless, she persisted and endured.
She sent her husband off to war, gave birth to nine more children, and nursed her teenaged son through cancer. Nevertheless, she persisted and endured.
She received her own cancer diagnosis and treatment. Nevertheless, she persisted and endured.
She got her husband's cancer diagnosis. He passed more than 20 years ago, and she deeply missed him every day after. Nevertheless, she persisted and endured.
She saw another son tragically predecease her. Nevertheless, she persisted and endured.
She had her heart broken again when she lost her daughter after she mightily fought her battle with cancer. Nevertheless, she persisted and endured.
She was a victim of Super Storm Sandy and was out of her home for nearly 4 years. Nevertheless, she persisted and endured.
"Aunt Fran" to select few, "Mrs. Healy" to a handful, "Muzzy" to almost everyone- if she knew you, she loved you. Our Muzzy was a warrior and a champion, with a joie de vivre rarely seen matched. She lived her life with a quiet strength and a deep faith in God that was complemented by easy laughter, quick wit, and the ability to make a long story even longer still.
Muzzy lived through so much more than can be accounted for in her 92 years on this earth, and persisted and endured through immeasurable strife and hardship, but the joy is what she always emphasized. Especially the joy of being with family. She had gotten what she wished, in the end. She'd returned to her home of 65 years, and had seen most of her family in early December. She passed peacefully in her sleep on Tues morning, and will rest easily, at last.
Her legacy will live on for generations to come, and we are so proud to be part of it. Today though, today we are shattered. In the coming days, we will cry, mourn, laugh and reminisce. It will be difficult and painful.
Nevertheless, we will persist and endure all because of Muzzy.
