Nicholas (Nick) Salvatore Pavia passed away on March 29, 2016 in Valley Stream, NY. He was 88. Mr. Pavia was born on February 21, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY to his late parents, Calogero and Carmela Falco Pavia. After attending high school, Mr. Pavia joined the Merchant Marines in 1945. Mr. Pavia dedicated his professional career as a civil servant for the New York City Police Department. After retirement, Mr. Pavia spent his time cooking, gardening, traveling with his wife and assisting with his son's family business. Mr. Pavia is survived by his sister, Mrs. Rosie DeFino, his brother Joseph Pavia, his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and Paul Viola and granddaughter Evelyn J., daughter Kathleen and granddaughters Nicole Piero and Christina Trezza and eight great grandchildren, grandson Nicholas Pavia and granddaughter Kathryn Pavia Brummer. Mr. Pavia was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Blaskiewicz, his brother Vito Pavia, and his son, Nicholas Charles Pavia. A memorial service for Mr. Pavia will be held from 7 to 9 P.M. at Perry's Funeral Home, 118 Union Avenue, Lynbrook, NY on April 1, 2016. All are welcome to attend. The mass will be held at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church of Hewlett, NY on April 2, 2016 at 10:00. Burial will follow the service at Saint John's Cemetery of Middle Village, NY. Flowers can be sent to the Perry's Funeral Home. Or donations can be made to the EAC Network of New York City and Long Island Meals on Wheels Program. »(Do not delete this line. It does not print.
