Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Kenneth Carver, 61 years old, of Lynbrook, NY, passed away on August 1, 2024, peacefully in his sleep. John was born March 25, 1963 in Oceanside, NY. He was the son of William Carver and Rosemary (Malloy) Carver. John spent most of his time with his wife, Renée, devoting his life to his family. John and Renée Carver were married on October 18, 1987, and enjoyed 36 years of a loving and faithful marriage. John and Renée had their firstborn child, Ashley on March 31, 1989, followed by Chelsea on January 31, 1993, and John on October 6, 2003. John adored his wife, children, and grandchildren, and supported them in every way he could. The Carver family shares an inseparable bond that will continue beyond John’s passing. John graduated from East Rockaway High School in 1981, and went on to pursue a few different trades before beginning his career in the FDNY. John started his career with the FDNY in 1987 as a fireman at Engine 26 in Manhattan. In 1996 he was promoted to Lieutenant and moved to Engine 216 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. In 2005 he was promoted to Captain and served the remainder of his career at Engine 255 in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. John was well respected by his colleagues as a mentor, boss, and leader. He retired in November 2014, after 27 years of dedicated service. John was one of the brave heroes who responded to 9/11; this was only one of the many selfless acts of service he committed to in his life. In his youth, John was an accomplished judo wrestler who achieved the rank of first-degree black belt, in addition to being an avid football and hockey player, and a recreational rower, skier, and biker. John continued his love of sports by following his son John’s baseball career as his number one fan. John enjoyed spending time at Saranac Lake, with Renée’s Aunt Del and Uncle Joe, where he and his family built lasting memories. John was known to be the life of the party, a true jokester at heart. He set an example for his children on how to lead a life filled with love and selflessness. He was known and loved by many, including family, friends in the community, and the fire department. John’s humility and commitment to service was admired by all who knew him. Remaining to cherish John K. Carver are his spouse, Renée Carver; children, Ashley Mextorf, Chelsea Goodman and John R. Carver; grandchildren, Cameron Mextorf and Liam Mextorf; brothers, William Carver, Michael Carver, James Carver, Stuart Carver; sisters, Theresa Carver and Sherry Pedersen.
