On behalf of all of us here at the Long Island State Veterans Home, we want to share our deepest condolences with the Occhipinti family as it relates to their patriarch - Joseph George Occhipinti. Joe was a resident here at the Home and was loved by all those who came in contact with him. We had the high honor of caring for this World War II Veteran for the past year and a half. Always pleasant, and always with a smile or a kind word - Joe was one of kind. He will be sorely missed by his fellow veterans (especially those that played pinochle), as well as our staff and volunteers. May he Rest in Peace.

Mr. "O" as I called him was a wonderful man who loved his family so much. He was kind and loving and when his family needed him, he was there. His zucchini pie was the best ever!! He had a wonderful life but he will be missed. Rest in peace your with your wife now and my sister, Stephanie. Hug them for me.

Mr. Occhipinti was always outside his home on Starks Place where he raised his 5 Sons with his Late Wife. He was always ready to say hello and keep his eye out for the children playing outside. My memories are long and fond especially of how our families were intertwined through the years. Everyone loved Mr. O!
The way his family revered him is a testimony of a great family man. Always wearing a smile and sharing a kind word. He was larger than life. It was filled with his love for this Country, emerging as a World War II hero to all. The only thing he loved more was his entire family. I respected him tremendously.
My sincerest condolences to the entire Occhipinti family. May God bless your family. Rest in eternal peace. The pearly gates are wide open awaiting your arrival.
