Obituary of Janet Schmieder

Though we say goodbye to Janet this week, the mark she has left on the hearts of her friends and family will last forever. She was the best kind of stubborn and opinionated, living a life true to herself, never afraid to speak her mind. Janet would not shy away from colorful hair dye and manicures, often purple, her most favorite color. We will always remember her love of dark chocolate, football, NASCAR, and Tino Martinez, not to mention her collection of Donald Duck memorabilia that rivalled Disney himself. Janet inherited her love of dance from mom, and with hard work and passion, she achieved the amazing accomplishment of dancing with the Traveling Rockettes at the age of 16. She was passionate and fiercely devoted to her family, and somewhere along the way, we began affectionately calling her Janni. Survived by her only son, Andrew, who she adored every day since the day he was born. Andrew loved and cared for his mom, working tirelessly to keep her comfortable until her last day. Janni was deeply loved by her sister Neenie and goddaughter, Denise, as well as niece, Lisa, and her great nieces Jaclyn & Carlye, and great nephews Henry & Miles. Though we may not be ready to say goodbye, we find comfort in imagining the beautiful reunion Janet will have with mom, dad, and Lainie, and many more loved ones who have gone before her.
