Obituary
Obituary of Michael Sangirardi
Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael Sangirardi was born on January 23rd 1939 to Michael and
Helen Sangirardi in Brooklyn, New York as the 3rd of four children,
Lawrence, Margaret, and Helen. Loved by so many, Michael was a
devoted husband to Lucia, dedicated father to Michael (Maria), Lisa
(Steve), Lawrence (Debi), and adored grandfather to Marissa, Angela,
Anthony, Robert, Nicole, and Michael.
He had an unstoppable work ethic, always working with his hands and
never fearing a little dirt. Working for Penguin Air Conditioning for many
years in Manhattan, while driving back and forth each day in time for
dinner, on projects in the World Trade Center, Ellis Island, and Tiffany's
on 5th Ave to name a few. He built his family home in Lynbrook and his
vacation home in the Poconos, hand-crafting each molding in the home
we were all raised in and caring for each tree grown, Michael built a life
worth living. And he lived. He skied, he traveled, he danced, he laughed,
and he loved.
In many lives, people regret not stopping to enjoy the little moments or
laugh with their loved ones, but Michael made laughing a part of his daily
routine. Remembered for many indescribable qualities, we know Michael
will be remembered for his witty jokes, insightful ability to fix anything
that may be broken (or maybe just have room to be improved), a sharp
mind that yearned to learn, a vivid memory, a creative eye, a golden
touch, and an undeniable resilience. Most of all, he had a passion for
life. A passion to enjoy music and dancing, as long as it was the Rat
Pack, to enjoy a few drinks, especially Gilby's Gin in a glass full of
olives, and most of all, to enjoy time with his beautiful family he created.
Michael was known to fix anything, and while he cannot fix the hole in
our hearts that will be left in his absence, he will forever be the glue that
holds this family together. As his favorite artist, the great Frank Sinatra
wrote, "I've lived a life that's full—I've traveled each and every
highway—and more, much more than this, I did it my way." Michael did it
his way and it was the best way. His memory will live on in our hearts
and his legacy in the things he created.
