Obituary of Germano Sannuti

Please share a memory of Germano to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Germano “Jerry” Sannuti was born in Germany on November 19th, 1963 to loving parents, Rosaria and Settimio Sannuto. He spent his early childhood in Fagnano Castello, Italy alongside his two brothers, Marino and Frankie. Germano and the Sannuto family immigrated to America in September of 1971 and settled into their new home in Inwood, New York. While assimilating into their new American life they never forgot their Italian roots. Jerry attended Lawrence High School and graduated in 1982. Several years later Jerry was introduced to the love of his life, Wendy Beth Star. They dated for four years before tying the knot at the Coral House in May of 1989. They settled into their home in Lawrence where they welcomed two beautiful daughters, Carla Rosaria and Deanna Lillian. Jerry worked many years as a customs broker as a member of many companies, working the longest at Selvino Del Bene. He was a well known and well respected member of the industry who was loved by all his colleagues. The most important thing in Germano’s life was his family. The Sannuti family spent many memorable nights around a crowded dinner table eating, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company. Germano also loved spending time in the kitchen. His daughters fondly remember snow days spend making delicious homemade pizzas and long fun days spend making sauce. Food was a core value of the Sannuti family culture with 40 minute drives to Dairy Queen never being out of the question and weekly espresso nights being a must. Germano is survived by his loving wife and daughters, his brothers Marino and Frankie, many nieces and nephews, and a large caring extended family. While his life was too short, he lived every day to its absolute fullest. He loved Saturday morning rides on his Harley, weekend hunting trips upstate with his friends, and ski trips with the family to Jiminy Peak. Jerry maintained this active lifestyle right into his final years, continuing his long walks on the Long Beach boardwalk and completing a 5K with his daughter just a few short months ago. Jerry’s life was one filled with love and happiness. He will be sorely missed by his family who will remember him fondly every time a KISS song comes on the radio. Jerry’s final two years were hard ones spent battling cancer while continuing to live his life to its fullest. We were lucky to have him in our lives and we will never forget the way he was always there for us. He will be forever loved, sorely missed, and always remembered.
