Obituary of Eion Keith Mckend
Please share a memory of Eion to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eion Keith Mckend passed away on June 30th, 2022, at the age of 76. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his strength and will in facing life challenges.
As a young man emigrating from Georgetown, Guyana, Eion dreamed of creating a better life for his family. This dream was realized as he worked multiple jobs all the while raising his children and completing his Bachelor’s degree at Baruch College and his Master’s in Business Administration at LIU, with honors.
For many years, Eion worked as a manager in the accounting division for the Helmsley organization. After “retiring” (he never really retired!), he became a consultant for the Chase and Chemical Bank mergers on Wall Street. Always the entrepreneur and carpenter, Eion invested in real estate for decades. Eion was known everybody’s tax consultant and de-facto financial advisor to many.
An avid reader and lover of all things intellectual, geographical and political, Eion spent much of his time reading and learning. It is no wonder his trip to Ghana in 2006 proved to be one of his most memorable experiences.
Eion Mckend is survived by his wife, Olinda, his brother, Dave (Neddy) and children, Eion Jr., Lloyd, Jason and Hasina. He was a doting and proud grandpa to Natasha, Kiana, Nia, Randy, Joshua, Shi’Ori, Imani and Ethan.
Please join the family in celebrating Eion’s life well-lived.
