Lillian Mollo
09/17/1923 - 02/15/2022
Lillian Mollo passed away after an incredible 98 years that somehow still doesn't feel like enough for everyone who loves her. She was kind, generous, loving, gloriously stubborn, and one heck of a dancer, passing down the love of dance to three generations. Mother to Janet, Maureen (Neenie), and Elaine (Lainie). Grandmother to Andrew, Denise, and Lisa. Great Grandmother to Jaclyn, Carlye, Henry, and Miles who lovingly call her GG.
As a cheerleader at Lawrence High School, cheering for her school's football team, who would've thought she'd one day be married to one of those football players, Alfred Mollo, for 63 years until his passing in 2010. After getting married and raising her daughters, her days as a dance teacher was only the beginning of what turned into 15 years co-owning LJ Dance Company in Cedarhurst, spreading her love of dance to so many families.
Lillian was a true matriarch in her family with the unconditional love and adoration from her nieces and nephews. She was a surrogate mother and grandmother to so many. Family, friends, and neighbors, many who called her "Lil", were always welcome to stop by for a cup of coffee and something to eat. An empty stomach was unacceptable at Lil's house.
Whether you called her Lillian, Lil, Mom, or GG, your life was surely made better because she was a part of it, and life will not be the same without her. We all pray and hope that she's found her way back to Fred, Lainie, and all her loved ones that have gone before her. We will keep that hope and faith that we, too, will see her again.
