Obituary of Angela M. Johnson
Please share a memory of Angela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Angela M. Johnson, 81, of Lynbrook, NY passed peacefully on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. She is survived by her loving husband William of 61 years. Proud mother of Lisa, Stephen (Maria) and Allison Pierce (Christopher). Loving grandmother of Kyle Fidler, Nicholas Fidler, Conor Pierce, Matthew Johnson, Mackenzie Pierce and Jason Johnson.
Angela was born in Bushwick, Brooklyn on October 18, 1940. She attended St. Martin of Tours and Bushwick High School, where she was honored to be named Miss Bushwick in 1958. She enjoyed playing the piano and dancing to Fifties tunes.
After graduating from High School, she began working as a Secretary at Merck Pharmaceuticals. She married William in 1960 and soon thereafter he was deployed to Germany for the US Army as an MP. They lived in Heidelberg and traveled throughout Europe during their time in Germany. Trips to France and Italy were highlights while travelling in Europe. It was an adventurous few years in Germany, welcoming their first child Lisa.
Upon their return to the US, they moved to Canarsie. While there, the family grew when Stephen was born. The family moved to Woodhaven in 1965. Angela enjoyed her time in the neighborhood and their third child Allison was born there. During this time, she had fond memories of shopping on the avenue and being active in St. Thomas the Apostle Church. She loved the sense of community in the neighborhood and entertained frequently with neighbors. She never missed an opportunity on the dance floor. Summer vacations were spent in the Catskills or visiting family in California.
In 1982, they decided to move to Lynbrook. Angela loved her home and worked in town at Allstate Insurance. She had a passion for baking and cooking, including her delicious lasagna. Sharing Sunday dinner with family made her so happy. She often made cookies and treats for her family, friends and neighbors. She had a close-knit group of friends, whom she cherished like family. She looked forward to their dinners, trips and outings together.
She enjoyed her grandchildren and took much joy in seeing her family grow. We will miss our dear wife, mother and grandma dearly. She led a long, fulfilling, rich life and was loved by many. Rest in peace Angela. We are blessed to have been part of your family.
