Magna D. Lopez, age 86, passed away Thursday evening, March 4, 2021 at Mercy Hospital.
Was preceded in death by her husband Amado, sisters Berta and Elsa.
She is survived by her brother Rafael, sister Nely, children, Elizabeth, Marco, Betty, Patricia, Roxana, grandchildren, Romina, Jessica, Kenny, Jason, Carolina, Kelly, Alexis, great grandchildren, Christopher, Kimberly, Colette, Riley, Blake, Makenzie, Melody, great-great grandson, Mayson, niece and nephews, Odette, Martin, Gerardo and Fernando.
Born in Ahuachapan, El Salvador, Magna moved to the U.S. seeking the American dream to make a better life for her family. She was an accomplished seamstress, having worked in Manhattan’s garment district. She loved to dance and often spoke of how she would go to the Roseland Ballroom with her friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking for them. She made amazing Salvadoran quesadillas (a family favorite) and a number of other delicious recipes. She was happiest when she was told her food was delicious.
She loved this country and never regretted moving here. She achieved her goal and lived the American dream.
