Obituary of Patricia Rose Verdon

On Monday , October 5, 2020, Patricia Verdon, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 86. Patricia was born on March 1, 1934 in Kings Park, NY to John Joseph and Julia (Cooke) O’Neill. Patricia was a proud nurse of over 50 years spending the majority of her career at Booth Memorial Hospital in Queens. Patricia was a dignified Irish Catholic who loved everything about her Irish heritage. From her famous Irish Soda Bread to her multiple trips to Ireland, Patricia reveled in being an Irish American. Patricia’s family will miss her homemade sauce with meatballs and sausages, her late morning pancakes, her world-renowned mashed potatoes, and her loving, welcoming smile. Patricia loved spending time crocheting at the Enfield Senior Center with friends. Patricia will be missed by her many family and friends in which she always welcomed with open arms in her home. Patricia was predeceased by her father, John Joseph, her mother, Julia, stepmother Mary, her brother, Joseph, her son in law, Douglas DeDonato and her daughter, Denise Gonzalez. She is survived by her daughter, Julia DeDonato; granddaughters Gina Esposito, Kelly Steere and her husband Robert, Amanda DeDonato, and Brittany DeDonato and her husband Dominic; her seven great-grandchildren Cayshia, Jack, Jayla, Nolan, Marai, Patrick (PJ), and Julianna; along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, and an amazing group of friends. Visitation will be at Perry Funeral Home in Lynbrook, NY on Monday, October 12, 2020 from 2pm – 4pm and from 7pm – 9pm. A Catholic mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace in Lynbrook, NY on October 13, 2020 at 10am followed by the burial at St. Charles Cemetery.
