Obituary of Lewis Hummel
Lewis Hummel was born on March 9, 1927 to Frederick L. Hummel and Lillian Mae Pearsall in Inwood, NY. Upon graduating from Lawrence High School, he enlisted in the US Army and served as an MP in the aftermath of WWII, witnessing history at the Nurenburg War Crimes Trial.
Upon his return, he met and married the love of his life, Naza. During their more than 60 years of marriage, they were blessed with and are survived by 4 children, along with 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Luke lived in Lynbrook more than 60 years. He first worked for the Health Department, and later worked as a Court Clerk for the NY State Supreme Court in Mineola.
Luke was a gifted athlete, having played baseball in high school and college, and spent many hours following professional sports.
Luke had deep roots on Long Island, and was a descendant of some of the founding families of Nassau County. He is survived by his four children; Deborah Rosenfeld, Sally Hummel-Uzzi, Robert Hummel and Laura Snowden.
