Obituary of Stephen Paul Cerullo

Stephen Paul Cerullo of Patchogue, NY formally of East Islip passed away in his sleep on May 19, 2018. He was 62 years old. He was born in Montpelier, VT on May 28, 1955 to the parents of Peter and Anna Cerullo. Soon after his birth the family moved to East Islip, NY. He attended St. Mary's parochial school in East Islip from kindergarten to 7th grade and then transferred to East Islip Public School District. He received his AA Degree in Humanities from Suffolk County Community College and then became certified as a nurse's aide. For 25 years he worked for home services agencies as a nurse's aid helping people with needs on Long Island. Almost 3 years ago a drunk driver sped through a red light and crashed into Steve car at in intersection. With major hospitalization and rehabilitation he was able to walk again but with a walker. The accident left him disabled. His favorite lifelong friends were Ron Rega from Georgia, Mike Amador from Albany area and Howard Lichtman from Maryland. He was a Recovery Leader for many years helping people work through their emotion disorders and issues. He followed Dr. Low's practices. He was also a member of the Sons of American Vets of East Islip, NY Post #18. Stephen enjoyed family and the simple things in life. He was very dedicated to his wife Mary. His signature farewell message on the answering machine was always "Steve out" Our response to Stephen is "over and out 73 Steve…be in peace" He is survived by his wife Mary Cerullo. They were married at St. Mark's in Islip, NY on May 24, 1997. His stepson is Patrick Ferrante and his partner Karen and their four children and his stepdaughter is Dianna Zorn and her husband and their 2 children. He is also survived by his closest and oldest brother Michael Cerullo of Liberty and his wife Fay and their sons Ryan and Dillon and his older brother David Cerullo of Selden and his wife Reta and their children: daughter Lisa Gregorik and her husband Chris their children Paige and Leanne, and daughter Christine Botts and her husband Steven and their child Emily and son Peter Ebbets and his wife Kerrie and their children Nickolas, Karlie, Peter and Joseph. Visitation is from 2 to 5 on Wednesday May 23 and again 7 to 9. The funeral is May 24 at St. Mary's Church of East Islip, NY and the burial is at Pinelawn Cemetery in the Garden of Peace.
