My father's passing wasn't a surprise to us. He prepared us for today. He told us a week before that his time has come and he wishes to sleep and never wake up. His wishes came true.
Khachatur Khachatourians (known as Khachik) was born January 9, 1926 in Krasnadar Russia. He was 12 when his parents Dikran and Shushan immigrated to Iran.
Khachik was the 3rd of 5 children - two older sisters: Arus and Nevart and younger sister: Tamar and youngest brother: Surik. At the age of 13 he learned the art of shoe making and started working to help his family. Because of his efforts and hard work he successfully established his own shoe store Stella and shoe factory on prestigious Naderi Avenue in Tehran. He trained many young Armenian men the art of shoe making.
He married Mania Melconian at the age of 25 and then together they raised four children, Margoush, Anoosh, Gevik and Vahik. He was faithful and dedicated
to his family and did whatever it took to keep them pleased. He supported his four children for their education and encouraged them to do the same for their children.
Khachik came to the United States in 1983 and worked at Klingbeil shoe labs in Queens for twenty years until the age of 78. He was a kind and hard working person and was always respected by everyone around him.
He was proud and happy to live long enough to enjoy seeing his 5 grand children and 3 great grand children.
Khachik will never be forgotten and his good memories will be with us forever. We will always have him in our hearts and prayers. He will be always remembered as a kind, caring and loyal father and husband.
Rest in peace dad.

I remember i just finished the high school and wanted to go to Europe , i went to him and said Dad i wish to go to Europe before the College starts , he said okey , how much money do you need ? we were not rich but he never said "no" to his kids or his wife .
